Mini Book Review: ‘The Inheritance’ by Gabriel Bergmoser

Iā€™m a bit of a sucker for Aussie noir, and ā€˜the Inheritanceā€™ by Gabriel Bergmoser is a dark, ultra-violent odyssey through the Antipodean nether regions.

The protagonist is Maggie, a taciturn young woman trying to shelter from her troubled past. However, circumstance and a cast of mesmerisingly nasty characters conspire against her. Before long, she is pitched into a bloody battle for survival for which she proves more than equal.

Some of the kickass Lara Croft-style sequences stretch credibility a bit. There are also just a few too many homicidal maniacs leaping from the shadows. Nevertheless, this book is pacy, engrossing, and beautifully written.
